A Girl And Her Thanksgiving.

i am sorry that this story is late. I got sick and only know got to finishing it.

A chilly wind blow around Nathanael Bennett as he, his wife Tracy, and her two close friends Pepper and Jean, walked into the local grocery store.

It was early Thanksgiving morning. The store was bustling with last minute shoppers much like Nathanael and his group.

Nathanael grabbed a basket while Jean found the shopping list that they had made in the car. Tracy and himself had only gotten in town very early that morning.

They decided to have dinner at Pepper and Jeans house. Tracy thought it would be better then her star ship.

Jean sent Tracy to get the pumpkin pie and whip cream. She sent Pepper to get the green beans and gravy makings. She sent Nathanael to get the ham, because know one wanted turkey. While Jean was getting the potatoes and craned berries.

As Nathanael got the ham his mind was full of thoughts. Today was going to a onusrole day for the small band of universe travelers, saying they were use to spending a day that usually involved running, a lot.

Not to mention this was going to be his first time spending the Holidays with his new wife and friends. He and Tracy had only been married that summer.

Nathanael's thoughts were interrupted by Jean showing up with a small bag of potatoes and four cranberries.

“The other two hasn’t came by?” Jean asked in her quiet voice, putting the stuff in the basket.

It wasn’t that Jean has shy, she really wasn’t. She just had a quiet voice.

“Nope.” Nathanael answered his blonde friend.

The two of them walked in silence, tell they found Pepper staring at at the cooler that held the green beans.

As the two approached she put the stuff she was caring, bullion and some butter, into the basket.

“Why do you humans have so many types of beans.” The black hair woman stated.

I probably should explain this real quick. Tracy is a two hundred year old time traveler that looks only twenty. Pepper is a Esteonein, from the planet of Estoen. Nathanael is basically a werewolf, while Jean was the only “normal” one in the group.

“Maybe we like our variety.” Jean answered her best friend smugly. The two girls had become close in their travels. Saving each others lives will do that to you.

Pepper gave Jean a smug look. Turning to Nathanael she asked. “ Which kind do we won’t?”

“Green beans.” answered Nathanael with a smile.

“Which green beans? There are like twenty different ones.” Pepper stated, looking back at the coolers.

Jean stood by Pepper, looking at the many brands of beans. “You’re right there is twenties different ones. But this is the ones we won’t.” Jean grabbed a bag of brand named beans and put them in the basket.

“Where is Tracy?” inquired Pepper, as the three of them walked up front. “Do you think she got side tracked. Agina?”

They found Tracy in the baking aisle, looking at the ingredients to carrot cake.

“What are you doing?” Nathanael asked his wife.

“I’m reading the ingredients to carrot cake.” Tracy answered matter a factually. See told you.

“Why?” Jean asked.

“Because I can.” Tracy replayed turning back to the cake box.

“Did you get the pumpkin pie and whip cream.” Nathanael asked looking over Tracy's shoulder at the box.

“Um yes, I got the pumpkin pie. But I can’t find the whip cream.” Tracy answered putting the box back on the shelf.

“I know where it is.” Pepper said “I’ll grab it and meet you guys up front.”

The group checked out and headed to Jean and Peppers apartment.

As they were unloading the car, one of the girls’ neighbor came up to them and handed them a pretty good size turkey.

“It’s a extra.” The woman said “I thought you guys would like it.” She left before they could refuse the offer.

“In reality she didn’t want to eat turkey.” Pepper said as they went into the apartment turkey and all.

The apartment had to bedrooms, a hallway connected the bedrooms to the main part of the apartment. The dinning room, living room and part of the kitchen was all one room.

The walls were a light blue. With the windows and the big over light, the apartment was bright and happy.

“And now we work.” Tracy said when they got everything inside.

‘What’s first?” Nathanael asked the women.

“I’ll get the ham on.” Jean said walking into the kitchen.

“Pepper can peel the potatoes.” Tracy volunteered her friend, smiling.

Pepper, shaking her head and smiling a little, got the potatoes and sitting on the end of the three piece couch, started to peel.

“All right then.” Jean said from the kitchen “You two can get the cranberries ready.”

Tracy rummaged through the bags. As she found the cranberries, she tossed them to Nathanael. He caught them with ease.

“You caught them.” Tracy said surprised.

“Of course I caught them.” Nathanael replied matter factually.

The two of them sat down at the four person table and started to work. After a few moments Tracy said thoughtfully, looking at one of the cranberries. “Isn’t weird that these are the seed of the plant?”

‘Why is that wired?” Nathanael asked looking at his wife.

“It just is.” Tracy said “I mean, who was the first person to open one of them and say. Hay let's eat the seed and see if we die.”

“Why would that be what they say?” Jean asked from the kitchen.

“I don’t know?” said squeezing the seed she was holding. The red juice from the seed landed on Nathanael.

“Sorry.” Tracy said biting her bottom lip to keep from laughing.

Smiling Nathanael picked up another seed and got it on Tracy.

“Hey!”Tracy shouted not even trying to not laugh.

“NO FOOD FIGHTS!” shouted Jean as she came out of the kitchen.

Nathanael and Tracy want back to work, with pertained pouting faces. They were only quite for a minute before they started singing. The two girls joined in and they sang tell the work was done.

Well except for a couple minutes were they all stopped when Pepper cut her hand, cutting the potatoes.

When what work they could get done, was, well done. The four stood in the kitchen, looking down at the turkey.

“What on earth are we going to with it.” Tracy said “ None of us like turkey.”

“Baby when can give to another neighbor.” suggested Nathanael.

“No. are neighbors wouldn't like it.” Jean chuckled slightly.

They stood in silence for a few moments.

“I know!” Exclaimed Tracy “We could take it to the homeless shelter. They could use it for their thanksgiving dinner.”

The others agreed. Tracy and Nathanael volunteered to go. The homeless shelter was only a couple blocks away, so the couple walked, lugging the turkey with them.

They end up staying at the shelter for longer than they wanted. Tracy ended up entertained the kids with stories. While Nathanael helped with the food.

When they got back to the apartment, it was quite late. As they went up stairs, the girls apartment was on the second floor, They smelled smoke.

As they got to the door, they found it was wide open.

“What on earth happened?” Tracy asked as they went inside.

“Jean burn the ham.” Pepper said. Both girls were on the couch, playing some card game.

“I didn’t mean to burn the Ham.” Jean said “I just forgot I was cooking.”

“What were you to doing, that you forgot you were cooking?” Nathanael asked.

“We were playing war.” Jean answered. “The card game.”

Not only was the ham burned, the green beans were way too salty to eat, the mash potatoes were more like potato soup, and the gravy was so thick you could use it to lay bricks.

“Well, at least the pumpkin pie is still good.” Tracy said hopefully.

“And the cranberries.” Pepper added.

So that's what they had. Curled up on the couch, watching mad about you the thanksgiving special, they ate pumpkin pie with cranberries.

Nathanael looked at the three women. It was the thanksgiving they wanted, but they were with each other and that's all that matters in the end.
